I discovered Luke and the club at my local park in the Summer when I was walking my dog. They were doing a Boot Camp session – I watched as I walked the dog, and it looked like good fun. As the group appeared friendly and approachable, I asked what was going on. I was looking to do some exercise, but did not want to join a gym – I had already started doing some classes at a leisure centre, but I wanted something more that drove me to improve and targeted certain areas (especially my stomach). I started Boot Camp on the next session and haven’t looked back. 

Luke is a great motivator and trainer and, knowing what I want, he has driven me to achieve my goals. Once achieved, I just modify my goals, and Luke modifies his approach. Thanks to Luke and Lichfield Fitness Centre, and a new healthy eating regime, I have lost just over a stone and for the first time in my life (46 years) I have some definition in my stomach. I am now working to get even more definition there and elsewhere in my body. My partner has certainly noticed the difference!!!

The beauty of Lichfield Fitness Centre vs the environment of a standard gym, is the friendly atmosphere – sessions are hard, but fun, as we all get along and we drive each other to achieve results. Even though I was a new member, the rest of the guys welcomed me with open arms, and I have made some great friends not just “gym buddies”, but friends. If you want to work out with friendly people, who will welcome you warmly every time you are there, then Lichfield Fitness Centre is for you. Its not a gym, its a community!

I met Luke in early May 2014 after a recommendation from one of the members of Aldridge FIt CLub. I had been looking for something new to motivate me to get fit having 2 years previously been a member of a local gym and playing football once a week. I also needed to get fit quick as I was rapidly realising my energetic 2 year old boy was really going to keep me on my toes in the years to come.

I remember my first session at Shortbutts park very well. Weighing in at about 16 stone 10 pounds I was not in great shape and could barely run half the football pitch! Having also forgotten my bottle of water I only lasted around 30 minutes of the session before having to retire. This was a quick realisation of how bad a shape I was in! Having said that I thoroughly enjoyed the varied concept of the boot camp and found Luke to be a very professional and helpful trainer. It wasn’t long before I improved and signed up for the unlimited boot camp and 4 private training sessions per month for £59 which in the current market is an incredible deal and a package I would recommend wholeheartedly.

From there I improved amazingly quickly. My fitness improved, my body started to tone, and my all round confidence improved. I could also now keep up with my ever more energetic 2 year old! With Luke opening the centre in late 2014 we also saw the introduction of other classes such as spin, boxing circuits and yoga. All included in the inclusive monthly payment. Incredible value for money really.

The improvements I made culminated in me running the lichfield 10k in 2014 which I completed in 58 minutes. I also ran the walsall 5k later on in the year. I am aiming to do more runs in 2015 starting with the fradley 10k in March and hopefully the lichfield half marathon in May.

I can’t really thank Luke and lichfield fitness centre enough for the help and support I have had in my pursuit for fitness. I currently weigh 14 stone and 5 pounds so a total weight loss in under 8 months of 2 stone and 5 pounds. With only minor tweaks to my diet and still being able to go out and enjoy food and drink this is a great achievement. My aim in 2015 is to lose another stone in weight and achieve my goal of completing a half marathon. I’m sure with Luke’s help and support and my tailored training programme I will achieve the results. I genuinely don’t think you will find anyone as dedicated as Luke to help you achieve your goals. I have also been lucky enough to meet some really great people through LFC, people who I now consider to be friends. It really is a great environment to train and the guys all support each other to achieve their goals.
